Online Booking of Consultations
All enrolled ACU students can book an individual or small group consultation with an Academic Skills Adviser through the Online Booking System.During a consultation, you can find out more about how to study at the tertiary level. This may include:
- skills and strategies for organising and planning study
- developing an academic writing style
- referencing correctly
- presenting in a tutorial
- preparing for examinations.
If you are studying on campus, the consultation will be face-to-face with an adviser. If you are studying fully online, you can still use the online booking system to make an appointment. You will also need to contact the adviser by telephone or email so the adviser can organise an “over the phone” consultation at your appointment time.
Using the Online Booking System
The first time you book an appointment for 2009, you will need to register as an ACU student by creating a username and password. Once you log in with this username and password, choose the campus and service you require. Then you will be able to see the available appointments for the next 7 days and book a time suitable for your needs.
You can also use the booking system to cancel an appointment. Please give 24 hours notice, so that another student can use the appointment time.
For the consultation
To make the most of your time with an adviser, think about what you can bring to the appointment and the questions you would like answered. For example, you could bring a draft study plan if you are interested in time management or drafts of writing if you want to develop your academic writing skills.
It is always useful to bring copies of your Unit Outlines, assessment tasks and marking sheets if you want to discuss issues about academic writing and referencing for particular assessment tasks.
