What happens if I use all my SLE?

Students who have consumed all of their SLE won’t be able to access a Commonwealth-supported place. They may be able to access a fee-paying place.

What if I take longer than 7 years to complete my degree?

If you are a Commonwealth-supported student, you will receive a Student Learning Entitlement (SLE) of seven years equivalent full-time study. If you hold a Commonwealth-supported place, you can use this over any period of time. Length of candidature is covered in course rules, which will specify the maximum period of time you may take to complete an award.

Can I gain additional SLE?

Additional SLE is available in same cases eg: Honours and dual degrees. For further information regarding additional and lifelong SLE refer to the Our Universities: Backing Australia's Future website.

I want to apply for credit - how does that affect my SLE?

When you apply for credit, or recognition of prior learning, you do not consume SLE for any unit credited as it is a unit which has previously been studied and, where applicable, SLE has already been consumed.

I need to do some professional experience units (or work experience in industry - WEI) - how does this affect my SLE?

How your SLE is affected will depend on the type of WEI units you are undertaking. Currently each ACU National School is reviewing its WEI units to determine the category into which the WEI, for various courses, falls.
If you have been allocated credit points for the unit and have been charged for the unit it will reduce your SLE.
