Fees Information 2009
This document sets out the official policy of the University.
Authority
Financial delegations approved by Senate provide for the establishment of student fees to be delegated to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs).
Application of policy
This policy applies to all enrolled and former students of the University.
General Principles
“In its endeavours, ACU National is guided by a fundamental concern for justice and equity, and for the dignity of all human beings.” (ACU National Mission Statement)
ACU National, as a compassionate institution, needs to outline carefully and fairly to students the nature of their financial obligations to the University and provide realistic timelines and mechanisms for their discharge. Provision needs to be made for making temporary alternative arrangements, via due process, for those students who periodically experience difficulty in meeting their financial obligations. At the same time, a range of sanctions and penalties is required to ensure that defaulting students do not receive unfair advantage over those who meet their obligations.
In general, failure to meet obligations in regard to the student contribution for a Commonwealth-supported place, tuition fees and Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP) arrangements will result in cancellation of enrolment. Failure to meet obligations in regard to other small debts and fines will result in sanctions.
Grievance
Where a student believes that the University has not honoured its stated Student Fees, Charges and Refunds Policy, the student may request a review or reconsideration by writing to the Head - Student Business Services in line with the Policy for Appeal and Review on Administrative Matters.
