Strathfield Campus Student Association (SCSA)
Welcome Staff, Students, and the community of ACU National. The SCSA 2008 is very excited and motivated to engage our students in university life and the broader community through a variety of services and events.
Who is in the SCSA?
Well, we are all just like you, elected by the students, to represent the students. Our community-minded spirit enhances student life on campus. The SCSA consists of students from across all course areas and years. There are four office bearers being President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. As well as this, the rest of the Management Committee belongs to four Convenorship Teams. These are Events, Sport and Recreation, Engagement and Communications. All registered ACU students are eligible to join the SCSA from Week One Semester One. If you're interested, talk to an SCSA member or drop into the office.
What do we do?
We provide services and facilities in response to students' needs and are aimed at making the campus a supportive, stimulating and enjoyable place to learn. The Management Committee meets at least once every month to discuss and negotiate in conjunction with the ACU National Mission Statement ways in which to better student life here on campus.

Voluntary Student Unionism (VSU)
Prior to 2006, each student was required to pay a compulsory student fee to the university each semester. A percentage of that money was given to the student associations in order to provide services to the university community where events were subsidised and facilities were easily obtainable. Since July 2006, students are not required to pay the fees and the consequences are showing its affects. This has led to a reduction in services available due to tighter budgets associated with the fall in revenue.
Some activities run by the SCSA have had to be cancelled; discounts on activities removed and once 'free' events now incur a charge. Lack of student support has also contributed significantly to the demise of services and activities. Without student support, your student association is in danger of ceasing its activities. Student life on campus will cease to exist. The vibrant and strong community that exists on the Strathfield campus will be extinguished, and the student body will no longer have a voice.
As John Laws quotes it's up to you to 'Keep the Dream Alive'. Where would the SCSA be without your support?
