Aquinas Student Association (ASA)
Ballarat Campus (Aquinas) may be small in size but it's big in spirit. Staff and students work together in an environment where learning, socialising and achieving go hand in hand.
The Aquinas Student Association formally known as ASA has four office bearers and representatives from every year level and course offered on Campus. We act as a support network and sounding board for the student body. We lead many events throughout the year including Orientation Camp, an Annual Aquinas Lecture, social and sporting events and we are very active through our committees around Campus. Our Student Association prides itself on being approachable and we value your input and contribution greatly. Our students are our priority!
Student Services
Our Student Services staff are a great bunch of people who are very approachable. They are here to help you. Student Services and ASA work together to provide students with a great environment for study, social life and success.
Social Committee
Our active Social Committee organises many great events throughout the year, everything from O Week, year-level nights, awards nights to our annual "Boulders" ball and lots of exciting events in between. We cater for all students' needs and our main aim is to ensure that lots of fun is had! All ideas and suggestions are always welcome.
Sport Committee
This committee is responsible for organising various recreational activities on campus throughout the year. These activities include social sporting events and ACU National Games. Aquinas is the home of the "Iquanas" sporting team, which consisted in 2006 of a men's basketball team and a women's netball team.
MAD Committee
A newly formed committee who organise events such as gallery visits and exhibitions of our talented students' work. Other events include annual art awards, fun activities, and a showcase of the huge amount of theatrical talent and an art exhibit to help raise money for charities and to display the large diversity of talent around Aquinas Campus.
Social Justice Committee
This is a newly formed committee who aims to fundraise on campus for outside charities as well as the Ballarat Community. We are seeking more members to help in aiding and encourage students to branch out, make a difference and tackle issues of social justice for which they care passionately about. They are also very active in supporting the Ballarat East Timor Association.
St Vinnies Committee (Subcommittee of the Social Justice Committee)
Our very active group runs two kids' campus a year for disadvantaged children in the Ballarat community as well as kids days, family days and other activities. The committee also holds many events throughout the year to form a committee that shares the same interests and forms a close bond. They are greatly enjoyed by the children and too by the students participating as leaders.
Liturgy Committee
This group is responsible for planning and co-ordinating the liturgical life on the Campus. We meet weekly to prepare liturgies and Holy Week activities. We also prepare for other significant events including O Week, bereavements, Easter Raffles and end-of-year masses. We are supported by a superb group of singers and musicians.
