Catherine McAuley Scholarship
(Established in 2006 in memory of Sister Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy, and in recognition of the predecessor McAuley College, and maintained by an endowed fund by the Sisters of Mercy in Queensland.)
1. The Scholarship will have a value of $2,500 per annum for the length of the recipient’s course.
2. The Scholarship will be open to commencing students enrolled for any undergraduate course (other than the Bachelor of Theology) at the Brisbane campus (McAuley at Banyo) of the University. Preference will be given to applicants who are socially and economically disadvantaged, Indigenous students and students from rural and regional areas.
3. Applications should include –
- a 200 word statement providing:
- an explanation on how the Scholarship could financially support their intended program of study;
- evidence of the applicant’s contribution to and/or leadership; in community service, through activities designed to create a more just, merciful and sustainable world;
- two referees’ reports which address the above selection criteria.
One Scholarship may be awarded each year on the recommendation of a Selection Committee consisting of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor having responsibility for the Brisbane campus, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Students and Learning), a representative from the Sisters of Mercy in Queensland, and the Director, Australian Catholic University Foundation.
