Bob and Margaret Frater Travel Scholarship

(Established by Bob and Margaret Frater to recognise and reward those teachers within Catholic primary schools who display leadership qualities and commitment and who will contribute to the continuing development and enhancement of the school system through participation in an international experience.)

1. The Scholarship will have a value of up to $10,000.

2. The Scholarship will be open to persons who are enrolled in, or have completed, studies at Australian Catholic University (or one of its predecessor colleges) and who are working in the teaching profession in a New South Wales or Australian Capital Territory Catholic systemic primary school.

3. Applications should include –

  1. a proposal of approximately 1,200 words identifying a conference or other activity for which the applicant seeks support, and evidence of acceptance to participate in that event;
  2. demonstrated leadership in schools (particularly in the Catholic primary sector);
  3. evidence of postgraduate study (either completed or currently being undertaken); and
  4. demonstrated commitment to using their qualifications to work for the betterment of the educational community.

4. One Scholarship may be awarded each year on the recommendation of a Selection Committee consisting of a representative of the Frater family, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Students and Learning), the Head, School of Educational Leadership, a representative from the Catholic Education Offices in New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory, and the Director, Australian Catholic University Foundation.

Applications for 2009 ACU Scholarships and Bursaries are now open and will close 5pm (AEDT) Friday 6 March, 2009.
