Candidates are admitted to undertake research in a field of study which has been broadly identified in the University's Research Management Strategy as an area of strength:

Education Leadership;
Religion Studies and Religious Education.

1. DEFINITION

"Thesis" means a substantial and focused research report of approximately 70,000 words that makes an original and significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge and practice in some aspect of the education profession.

2. ADMISSION AS A CANDIDATE FOR THE DEGREE

To gain entry to the course a person must apply for admission and be offered a place in the course. Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

(a) hold a Master’s degree in Education or equivalent, with an average of Distinction or equivalent;

(b) have completed at least five years’ relevant work experience; and

(c) supply two confidential referee reports attesting as to their suitability as a candidate for the degree and their capacity to complete the thesis. At least one must be an academic reference; one may relate to the applicant’s professional experience.

3. COURSE STRUCTURE

Full-time and part-time students enrol in a thesis unit in consecutive Research Terms depending on the discipline area of their topic.

4. REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETION OF THE DEGREE

Students will complete 80 credit points, comprising 80 credit points for a thesis.
