Information for using Mac OS X at ACU National

Macs running OS 10.4 and higher can participate in the ACU network.

Email

Lotus Notes 6 is available on the Mac platform. Entourage will be available to staff when ACU moves to Exchange for its e-mail servers.

Printing

Macs are able to print to printers at ACU by printing directly to the printer's IP address. All print drivers are located locally on each Mac.

Internet

Safari is supported on Macs as it is the default browser which comes with OSX. Safari is supported by WebCT. Internet Explorer is not supported by Microsoft for the Mac platform.

Media players

Macs are able to play all media formats. Windows based media files can be played through the Mac version of Media Player and also the Flip4Mac plug-in for Quicktime.

Windows

All Intel based Macs have the ability to run Windows in either native mode (bootcamp) or a virtualised mode (parallels/VMfusion).
