Membership:

- Academic Registrar
- Faculty Dean normally for a term of two years in turn in the following order:
- Faculty of Education
- Faculty of Health Sciences
- Faculty of Arts and Sciences
- Academic staff member for a two-year term appointed in turn by each of the Faculties in the following order:
- Faculty of Arts and Sciences
- Faculty of Education
- Faculty of Health Sciences
- Student Senate representative
- National Director, University Relations and Foundation
Experts are consulted to brief the Committee as appropriate.

Terms of Reference:
- Periodically, to review academic dress for the University, including Senate gowns, graduation gowns, hoods and stoles.
- periodically to review regulations governing the form and occasion for the wearing of academic and other dress;
- to provide advice on the form and all public ceremonial occasions of the University, including such events as inauguration, graduation ceremonies, official openings, launches, receptions and commemorative occasions, and to oversee arrangements in relation to such occasions, as appropriate;
- to advise on protocols for ceremonial occasions; and
- to consider appropriately, matters in relation to honorary titles.

The Committee reviews its procedures as it deems necessary. The Committee reviewed its Terms of Reference and membership on 21 July 2006.
