Colloquia
The research colloquia seminars are one of the main processes designed to facilitate ongoing student and supervisor interaction within research degrees at ACU. It is also designed to develop professional and critique, support of research projects and scholarly growth through presentations and defence of research proposals. For the Colloquium to be successful it requires the support and ownership of all involved in research degrees at ACU in the Faculty of Education. All staff and doctoral students are invited to play as active a part as possible.
The thesis proposal defence seminar should be completed within 12 months of commencement of candidature (full-time basis) (see Rule 9.2 of Regulations).
A work-in-progress seminar should be presented at least once a year to meet the requirements of the degrees, and to also give evidence of progress and sharing of research with the research community (See Rule 15.4 of Regulations).
A final seminar (i.e. thesis defence seminar) is to be scheduled to occur at the stage when the candidate will be able to define and defend the major results and conclusions emerging from the research. This seminar will usually take place when the candidate is about to provide the required three-months advance Notice of Intention to submit a thesis for examination (see Rule 15.4.3 of regulations)
