World Youth Day
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witness”
Acts 1:8
World Youth Day is a call to action, an empowering journey, which may be compared to what students gain from their time at ACU National. We will not only finish with a degree but we will be empowered to make a difference by having ‘an appreciation of the sacred in life’, and by being called to action in our ‘commitment to serving the common good’.
ACU offers many opportunities for students and staff to enrich their university experience. I feel privileged to have been given the responsibilities of President of the Student Association on St Patrick’s Campus in 2008. Not only is it a great – and sometimes challenging – experience; it provides me with an opportunity to enrich and positively shape the journey of students during their time at university and to play a part in all students having a voice, locally and nationally.
Students have a great opportunity this year to experience World Youth Day in Sydney. For the first time, Australians will welcome young pilgrims from every corner of the earth and witness to the power evoked through the event.
I strongly encourage students and staff to join the World Youth Day pilgrimage; I encourage active membership of the ACU National community. Join the student associations or the various groups and societies on your campus. Get on board for ACU Wired Radio or Sport & Recreation. Participate where you can. You will get so much out of your time at ACU if you put in.
