Jim-baa-yer (To Learn) Indigenous Higher Education Unit

What we do

Jim-baa-yer Indigenous Higher Education Unit is co-located at Australian Catholic University's (ACU) Melbourne campus (St Patrick's) and Ballarat campus (Aquinas). The Unit works with current and prospective Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. It also provides support in relation to Indigenous issues to faculties and schools within ACU.

Jim-baa-yer Indigenous Higher Education Unit assists with and provides access to resources for all students. These can take the form of:

We also offer

Other functions of the Jim-baa-yer Indigenous Higher Education Unit include teaching, the promotion of Australian Indigenous cultures, advocacy, research and consultancy.

The Unit actively supports Schools and Centres at ACU in developing appropriate Indigenous perspectives in courses and can also offer an Indigenous perspective to ACU staff and services. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students can contact the Jim-baa-yer staff on any matter to do with their studies, or the studies they hope to undertake.
